We are Kenyan based fintech startup that makes mobile money in Africa free and easy to use.


Are you passionate about financial technology and want to experience the perks of a start-up life?

Asilimia, an award winning fintech startup that enables users to use one of the biggest and most popular mobile money wallets mpesa for free, is looking for python backend developer intern to join its Paris/Nairobi-based team. Together with our other developers, you will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end

Unfortunately, though this is an unpaid internship.



● Writing reusable, testable, and efficient code

● Design and implementation of low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications

● Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side


● Implementation of security and data protection

● Integration of data storage solutions

*Skills And Qualifications

*● Expert in Python, with knowledge of at least one Python web framework such as Django

and Flask

● Strong knowledge and experience in Django-Rest framework

● Familiarity with some ORM (Object Relational Mapper) libraries

● Able to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system

● Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture

● Good understanding of server-side templating languages such as Jinja 2 and Mako

● Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3

● Understanding of accessibility and security compliance

● Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers,and environments

● Understanding of the differences between multiple delivery platforms, such as mobile vs

desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform

● Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes

● Strong unit test and debugging skills

● Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git and Mercurial

Minimum Experience Required:

● At least three (3) years of experience developing software

● A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related

discipline may be substituted for 4 years of general experience
